The PhD and Doctoral Student Symposium – 2026

PhD and Doctoral Student Symposium

We are pleased to invite you once again to this year’s PhD and Doctoral Student symposium, which is organised by doctoral students for doctoral students in the field of Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or Veterinary Medicine. Based on project related talks and poster presentations, we aim to encourage communication and scientific discussion amongst postgraduate researchers. This is also a great opportunity for attendees to practice the presentation of their result among a smaller group of people. Afterwards, we will let some steam off with a little social event.

New this year: Researchers who are just at the beginning of their PhD journey will also have the chance to present their research plans! In the form of shorter lightning talks, you can introduce your project, share early ideas, and get direct feedback from the community – the perfect way to take your first steps in scientific presenting.

The 15th PhD and Doctoral Student Symposium will be held on September 17th, 2026 at the Veterinarium Progressum, Campus Düppel, in English.

For attendees from outside Berlin, we will try to offer the possibility to take part in “couchsurfing”: some members of the organization team and attendees from Berlin will offer a free place to stay for guests. Please note that we cannot guarantee availability for everyone, depending on the number of participants. We will let you know in advance about available places to stay.

Participation is free of charge and registration in advance is required. To register, please fill out the following form and send it to:

doktorandensymposium@vetmed.fu-berlin.de

Food and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. Let's enjoy an inspiring day of scientific exchange and a great social evening together!

Deadline for registration is July 31st, 2026.

We kindly ask you to follow the specifications on formatting for the abstracts (abstract template).

Participants of the symposium may obtain DRS credits. ATF credits will be applied for.
