I am interested in the biology of viruses that integrate their genetic material into the genome of the host and the impact that this has on the host cell. Currently I am focused on human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and the mechanism by which this virus integrates into the telomeres of cellular chromosomes.

Specific areas of focus are listed below:

• Identifying and characterizing viral and cellular factors involved in HHV-6 integration.
• Development of tools to study virus integration/reactivation in real-time.
• Modulation of telomeres and telomere-associated factors by HHV-6.
• Impact of HHV-6 integration on human health.
