Welcome …

… on our homepage of the Institute for Food Safety and Food Hygiene!

Our institute is extensively involved in research, teaching and services, to ensure the safety and hygiene of food, especially of animal origin.  The research contributions of our individual resaearch groups aiming at understanding the mechanisms by which pathogens can persist in food and the food environment.  In addition, we are dedicated to the development of physical-technical processes and their integration into the food chain in order to reduce zoonotic pathogens and optimize the microbiological quality of food. Furthermore, our research is focusing on the optimization of meat safety systems and animal welfare in the area of transport and slaughter.

Our institute offers services and veterinary training courses.
