The institute of Immunology is speaker of the research training group 3096 ‘One Health approach to soil-transmitted helminths’. The RTG is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft (DFG) and is going to start at April 1, 2026. We will conduct projects P4 ("Mechanisms of ascarids-host gut microbiome interactions", Prof. Hartmann) and P5 ("Age-dependent IFN-γ competence in Ascaris infection", Dr. Rausch).

We are also a part of research training group 3051 "Assessment of Behaviour and Stress Responses to Understand and Improve Veterinary Infectious Disease Models" (3RTG), which will start at April 1, 2026. Prof. Hartmann will supervise project P02 ("Analysis of a non-invasive method for determining immune and stress-related responses in intestinal infections").

Moreover, the institute was speaker of the DFG research training group „Parasite Infections: From Experimental Models to Natural Systems“ (GRK 2046) and conducted the projects B4, B5 and C9. The funding period of GRK2046 ended in 2024.

Currently, we are also involved in the DFG priority program “Physics of Parasitism“ (SPP 2332) with the project P13 "Physical principles of parasite-host interactions in Giardia muris infection" (Dr. Rausch).
