The kick-off of the new Research Training Group (RTG) 3096 “One Health” took place on June 23. The director of the Institute of Immunology, Prof. Susanne Hartmann, who is also the spokesperson for RTG 3096, opened the event, welcomed all doctoral students, and provided a brief overview of the RTG’s application phase. A RTG trains young scientists in a specific field, giving them the opportunity to write a dissertation. During the meeting, there was an introduction to the GRK’s training program, as well as to the overarching structures and their offerings, and to the administrative rules.
The session then continued scientifically with the first seminar in the “One Health Helminths” seminar series. In this series, invited international guest researchers present their current research on the topic. In his interactive presentation, Prof. Raffi Aroian provided a fascinating insight into his work, which could offer a promising approach to combating worm infections.
But the social aspect was not neglected either, and so, in addition to the program, the doctoral students and project leaders had time to get to know one another over light refreshments.
