News from Jul 03, 2025
From the press release of KEMRI:
"In preparation for the implementation of two newly awarded research grants funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Director of the Institute of Immunology at Freie Universität Berlin, Prof. Dr. Susanne Hartmann, paid a courtesy call to the KEMRI Director General, Prof. Elijah Songok. She was received on his behalf by the Ag. Director, Research and Development, Prof. Nelly Mugo. The visit marked an important milestone in deepening institutional ties between KEMRI and Freie Universität Berlin. Discussions focused on the progress of two DFG-funded collaborative projects: a Joint Graduate School, a research training group, that will offer structured PhD-education in One Health for helminth control, and a nutritional intervention study funded under the DFG German-African Infectiology call, aimed at evaluating the role of dietary supplementation in improving health outcomes in helminth-endemic settings. Both projects are led by Dr. Doris Njomo (KEMRI-ESACIPAC), Dr. Maurice Odiere (KEMRI-CGHR) and Prof. Francis Ndungu (KEMRI-Wellcome Trust) and reflect a shared commitment in advancing interdisciplinary research, capacity building, and sustainable public health solutions."
