Are you interested in writing a dissertation in the fields of animal welfare, animal behavior and laboratory animal science?

After successfully completing a degree in Veterinary Medicine or a degree in another natural science, you have the opportunity to do a doctorate at our institute. Writing a doctoral thesis gives you the opportunity to deepen your scientific work and develop your professional skills.

With us, you have the opportunity to obtain a doctorate (Dr. med. vet. or Dr. rer. nat.) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

If you opt for a PhD, you will partake in a structured doctoral program at the Dahlem Research School Biomedical Sciences (usually 3 years).

For some of our doctoral students, this opens up the possibility of in-depth postdoctoral work at the institute and qualification for a scientific career.
