Project Area B: Cellular Level
Cellular and immunological aspects of the host during parasite infections
Projects in area B concentrate on the interplay between our core parasites with immune and non-immune cells. The research projects concentrate on cellular challenges faced by the host when a parasite is encountered and its impact on innate and adaptive cell responses. This area therefore investigates host cellular counter-attack in response to single or multiple parasite infections. On the long run, detailed knowledge of host responses to parasites paves the way for vaccine and drug development in conjunction with the molecular parasite pathways studied in area A.
