Sina Fischer receives award for young female scientists

News from Nov 24, 2020

Ms Sina Fischer wrote her dissertation in cooperation between the Institute of Veterinary Physiology at the Free University of Berlin and the Institute of Molecular Pathogenesis at the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (Jena site).

Her research topic within the DFG-funded interdisciplinary cooperation project "Volatile organic compounds (VOC) of pathogen and host as biomarkers of bacterial infections" (funding reference: RE 1098/4-1, SCHU 1960/4-2) related to the physiological variability of VOC (volatile organic compounds) under biologically relevant conditions in goats.

Her Inaugural Dissertation, submitted under the title "Physiological factors influencing the variability of volatile organic compounds in the caprine animal model".
was accepted by the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Free University of Berlin in 2018.

In addition to two original papers published under Ms Fischer's first authorship, which are also part of the dissertation thesis, Ms Fischer is co-author of 6 further English-language peer-reviewed publications in internationally accepted journals.
Furthermore, Ms Fischer presented her research results in the form of lectures and posters at numerous international and national scientific conferences. This is evidenced by 5 published and partly award-winning abstracts with Ms Fischer as first author and 18 others in which she acted as co-author.
